AGLIANICO DEL VULTURE
Aglianico del Vulture (like all members of the Aglianico grape) and is extremely remote and is believed to have been introduced by the Greeks in southern Italy between the seventh-sixth century BC Other historical sources stating that the antiquity of this variety are made from the remains of a Roman age found in the press area Rionero in Vulture and a bronze coin depicting the rural deities Dionysus, whose cult was later reduced to one Bacchus, coined in the area of Venom in the fourth century BC The ancient Romans called it then "Vitis Greece and exploited to produce the wine Aglianico Falerno. The origin of its name is uncertain, some argue that it is inspired by the ancient city of Elea (Eleanico), on the Tyrrhenian coast of Basilicata, and who considers him a mere distortion of the word Hellenic. One of the historical and literary history of this variety were left by Horace, Latin poet and writer of the original Venom, which extolled the beauty of his land and the wine in question. The original name (it was Elleanico or Ellen) was changed into Aglianico during the Aragonese domination during the fifteenth century, because of the double 'l' pronounced 'gl' use phonetic Spanish.
